Falko Kriel holds a Masters degree in Oriental Medicine and is a licensed Traditional Chinese Medicine Practitioner and Acupuncturist with the CTCMA. With over 20 years of experience in martial arts, he is also the owner and head instructor of Tiger Claw Kung Fu and Tai Chi. In his practice he utilizes modalities such as acupuncture, herbal medicine, tuina/massage, cupping, gua sha, food therapy, and therapeutic exercise.
He began his journey with the Chinese arts when he was introduced to his Kung Fu and Tai Chi teacher at age 12. After 2 years of undergrad at UBC he enrolled in the Atlantic Institute of Oriental Medicine in Florida as one of the youngest to attend a Traditional Chinese Medicine school in North America.
During a mentorship program in a variety of martial and internal arts, he became sick with encephalomyelitis and was paralyzed from the waist down. Chinese medical arts played a key role in allowing him to make a full recovery. He well understands what people with chronic or severe medical issues endure daily.
Falko has advanced training in sports medicine, musculoskeletal and pain related issues, insomnia, neurological issues such as stroke recovery and has an interest in immune and digestive system disorders. He is a certified acupuncture detox specialist through the National Acupuncture Detox Association and has practiced in substance abuse recovery settings as well as in his general practice to help those suffering from high levels of stress, depression, anxiety, addiction, and other mental health issues.
Falko presently has a practice in Kelowna and is excited to begin offering services in Salmon Arm.
Falko can also be found with his wife and three kids hiking in the mountains and forests, homeschooling, growing their own food, and getting involved with their Church community.
